About
Breast Cancer
Breast
cancer is second only to lung cancer as a cause of
cancer deaths in American women. More than 200,000
American women are diagnosed annually with breast
cancer. Nearly 40,000 women die annually of breast
cancer. However, early detection is now emphasized
so women can catch the disease in its early stages
— when a cure is most likely — and great strides
in treatment have been made in the last 25 years.
